I'm There Inside Your Heart  / Marie Chambers (good friend )

Right now I'm in a different place

And though we seem apart

I'm closer than I ever was...

I'm there inside your heart.

I'm with you when you greet each day

And while the sun shines bright

I'm there to share the sunsets too...

I'm with you every night.

I'm with you when the times are good

To share a laugh or two

And if a tear should start to fall...

I'll still be here for you.

And when that day arrives

That we are no longer are apart

I'll smile and hold you close to me...

Forever in my heart!

So Blessed, So Perfect  / Janie (best best friend )

So sweet, so innocent and taken away so fast

A hurt of disbelief weighs the souls of her loved ones

A curse, a dream, but the truth appears in the far mist.

So young, so beautiful, full of life, full of happiness

Always kind, never vile a choice to be different

To be heard, but not loud, so quite and soft, but alive

So lovely, so delicate never  before or again someone could be so ideal

A test of time given to all

To hurt or to praise for her time well spent.

So inspiring, so gifted, nothing stays the same

This ever changing world stops for none and goes on for all.

Even the hurting feels but not dare speak

So unique, so exceptional compassion and magnificence

Missed with a longing that controls our very being

How my heart hurts more and more with each beat

So blessed, so perfect how he needed her more

Young, but just right to accompany the rest.

I shall always love her with a love that is never ending

TRUST JESUS  / Marion Viator (friend)

I was one of the 8 senior cheerleaders at CHS and we literally had to hop on a bus right after Brit's funeral. At first most of us were hesitant to go but we knew that Brittney would want us to go compete. When all 8 of us were on a bus heading to epcot in disney world we were talking about how we wanted and needed a sign that everything was going to be alright and that Brit was in Heaven watching over us. When we got off of the bus we looked in the sky and a guy in an airplane was writing some message. so of course we wanted to know what it was going to say. when it was finished it said TRUST JESUS. We knew that it was the sign we had asked for. so of course we had to take alot of pictures. unfortunately we were standing in the middle of the road where all of the busses were passing and everyone around was looking at us like we were crazy but all we could do was laugh b/c we knew Brit was laughing at us at that very moment. and when we won the competion it was b/c we did it for Brit!!! we knew she would want us to go and leave our hearts on that mat and do the best we could. and that is what we did....and we still "do it for Brit"!!!!!

Rosa Mystica and Brittney  / Mom
The following is a list of events that involve Rosa Mystica and Brittney. Before I begin let me remind you that before February 22, 2007 I had never met Kathy Williams or Vickie Dugas before, I new Tina Hebert because her son, Cortland, was in Brittney’s class.

On Thursday morning of February 22, 2007, my son Ross came to tell me that Tina was here but would be coming back later. Now remember Tina lives in New Iberia and I couldn’t understand why she would come and then leave. Tina Hebert and Kathy Williams showed up with the Maria Rosa Mystica statue. I asked Tina how she knew where we lived and she said that she had made plans to meet Kathy at Brittney’s grave after she had her nails done. She said she normally has a standing appointment to do her nails somewhere on Cemetery Hwy but when she got there her name wasn’t on the list so she called Kathy to come meet her at Brittney’s grave. When she got there, she saw two people at Brittney’s grave and asked them if they were related to Brittney. It was Brittney’s grandmother and godfather. Tina told them what she had found out about Brittney and Rosa Mystica and wanted to know if they thought we would like to hear it. So they followed Brittney’s grandmother to my house. She called Kathy and told her she would follow Brittney’s grandmother to my house and come back to pick her up at Brittney’s grave. So that’s how she found out how to get to my house and that’s why Ross told me that Tina was here but would be coming back. Tina said that her youngest son wants to become a priest and wanted to go to the new Catholic school in Lafayette off of Hwy I-49 called Pope John Paul II high school but was discouraging it because of the distance. She said while she was on her way to my house she heard Brittney tell her 3 times, “Ms. Tina look how far I had to drive to school every day by myself”. She told us that they would probably let him go. I went to school this year and he is no longer at Catholic High and is currently going to Pope John Paul II High School.

I will have to begin with Kathy’s family information because it connects her to Brittney and Rosa Mystica

Kathy proceeded to tell me that her family lives by the scripture, “There’s a time for everything under the Sun”, so when her dad passed away she wanted that scripture reading read at his funeral. Kathy said she wasn’t there for funeral arrangements so the reading wasn’t picked which she said made her really mad. At the funeral she said the priest read that scripture and they were all surprised because they hadn’t picked it. She said she asked the priest why he had read that scripture when it wasn’t picked and he said it was like someone told him to read it. The day after her dad’s funeral she said she was washing dishes when her dad’s arm reached around her waste and her dad had on the watch her mom had given to her as a keepsake from her dad (there’s a time for everything under the sun).

On Saturday, February 17, 2007, the day before Brittney died; Kathy said she got a call that she would be getting the Rosa Mystica statue Tuesday. She said she is never on the list to get the statue but always gets it when Our Lady feels she needs it.

On Tuesday, February 20, 2007 Kathy sent her husband to get red, yellow and white roses he came back with a bouquet of flowers with 3 peach roses in the middle. She got furious because that’s not what she asked him to get. Kathy said she was having a bad day when Tina called her she told her what her husband had done and Tina told Kathy that peach roses are Rosa Mystica’s favorite rose so Kathy took all the flowers out and left just the 3 roses in the vase. Kathy told her how she was having a bad day so Tina quoted her a scripture from the bible to make her feel better. Tina told Kathy she should go to Brittney’s funeral mass, but Kathy told her that she would be going to church at noon. Kathy told Tina that she didn’t know Brittney so why would she go to a funeral of someone she didn’t know but said that if she received Rosa Mystica at 10:30 she would just go to mass at noon and if they brought Rosa Mystica late she would go to Brittney’s mass. Kathy didn’t receive the statue until 11:30 so she wasn’t able to go to the noon mass. Kathy called Tina and told her she would be going to Brittney’s mass. Kathy told me that when ever she got the statue, her house always had a sense of holiness but when she got the statue that Tuesday morning it was as if the statue wasn’t suppose to be there and she didn’t feel the holiness.

Kathy went to church (St. Martin de Tours) to attend Brittney’s funeral. She said she was in church praying when she heard a loud voice 3 times, “Gods ways are not our ways”. She new at that point that there was a reason she was suppose to be there. Once the mass started Allison Picard read the 1st reading which began with, “There’s a time for everything under the sun”, then she really knew she was suppose to be there. Then Janey Boudreaux, Brittney’s best friend, read the 2nd reading which was the scripture that Tina had quoted her that morning, again she said to herself that she was suppose to be there but didn’t know why. Father Leger started his sermon with, “God’s ways are not our ways”, which was what Kathy heard 3 times while praying. Then she knew for sure that she was suppose to be there but still didn’t know why. At the end of the mass Kathy met up with Tina who said she had talked to Miriam Schwing to tell her about Brittney’s accident. Miriam told Tina that she had met Brittney in October 2 years ago when she brought her Rosa Mystica statue to Catholic High School in New Iberia for the sophomore class(class of 2007). She said all the kids looked at the statue like it was just another statue of Mary but when Brittney went up to the statue she was covered in gold dust. She said Brittney was drawn to the statue. She wanted to know all about the statue, where it came from, why it teared in oil. She wanted to know the back ground. Mariam asked Brittney if she wanted to hold the statue and she said, “yes”. She told Brittney to hold it like a baby and to touch her face. So Brittney touched it with her 3 fingers. Tina told Katy that maybe Brittney’s parents could use Rosa Mystica right now. So that’s the reason Kathy was supposed to be at Brittney’s funeral mass. I was later told that no one is allowed to touch Rosa Mystica’s face because she tears in oil and that only certain people have the authority to allow someone to touch her.

Tina asked me about the 3 peach roses that were placed on Brittney’s chest in her casket. I told her that her nanny, Mim, had sent a large arrangement of peach roses. Mim’s husband, Kirk, asked me if it was ok to put a rose on Brittney and I said yes. When Kirks 2 sons, Ryan and Jeff saw what he had done they too wanted to put each a rose on Brittney.

Brittney was very good friends with most of the Catholic High cheerleaders. So on Saturday, February 24, 2007 the cheerleaders were competing in Orlando, Florida. They have never one 1st place in 13 years. They won 1st place that day. Janey told me that there was supposed to be 4 schools participating but one school had to back out because of injuries so there were only 3 schools participating. Instead of winning t-shirts and sweat shirts like they usually did the 1st place team won watches (there’s a time for everything under the sun)

"remember me"  / Bethany Romero (good friend )

Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow, but remember me in every tomorrow. Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles, I've only gone to rest a little while. Although my leaving causes pain and grief, my going has eased my hurt and given me relief. so dry your eyes and remember me not as I am now, but as I used to be. Because, I will remember you all, and look on with a smile. Understand in your heartss, ive only gone to rest a little while. As long as i have the love of each of you, i can live my life in the hearts of all of you...brit i love and miss you each and everyday and when i read this prayer, you come to my mind, and all is at peace. i know your watching over us all, continue to stay with your mom, dad and brother..they need you!love you forever.

Empy Space  / Allison Picard (good friend )

Young and beautiful with a heart so sincere

Wondering where life would lead her

Happy, not one imperfection

With the plans of a successful future

Loved by so many without a doubt

and indisputably returned that same love

With a smile so warming

She was every friend I ever needed

But left so fast without goodbyes

Yet complete a job well done

She touched so many in a special way

None could possibly replace

I'm empty without per presence

Faith alone keeps me going

I turn and hope to see her face

Imagining she is with me

Yet an empty space remains

And will until I see her again

"She's in a better place"

We've been told time and time again

But without her I'm incomplete

My heart aches in loneliness

Oh how I'd love just one more day

I weep as I bow my head to pray

A Prayer  / Kristyn Dressel (good friend )

Such poise, such grace, such a beautiful face

as you walked down the hall

Such joy, such fun to everyone

You were a friend to us all.

A laugh, a smile...you only stayed  for a while

but you're in a better place.

A hug, a kiss, for the one whom we miss

her beautiful, angelic face.

Our sister, our friend, our one to confide in

when life was getting tough.

You talked and shared, showing everyone you cared,

Seems like you didn't stay long enough.

Our angel, our guard. We know with Our Lord,

up in heaven, you sit.

Give good words of cheer for all of us down here,

We need all the help we can get.

A gift from above who showed us God's love,

You did right from the start.

Take this poem as a prayer for Brittney Claire

who will forever remain in our hearts.

My Angel, My Friend  / Margaret Lemaire (good friend )

It seems like only yesterday, when you were here with us.

There's nothing words can say, all that I can do now is trust.

Your beautiful smile lives on, within each heart you've touched,

Your radiance shines like the dawn, through those who love you so much.

Fond memories will always stay, locked in my  soul until the end.

Wrapped in God's arms you lay, until the day we meet again.

On my nightstand I keep a photo to remember the times we've had.

Precious Britt, how I miss you so, lately I feel helpless and sad.

God, here's a message to send to the one we've lost so dear.

Take care of my angel, my friend and may her presence be forever near.

Remembering you and Brittney  / Yolanda Rogers
You are in our prayers as Brittney's birthday falls upon you. I say fall because no matter how much time passes and no matter that we think about them every day these special days do fall upon us with a deeper sorrow and a keener pain. Mei our Lord hold you close. Mei you know the peace and comfort of His embrace and be blessed with His assurance of Heaven.

In His Love
